Google has a barren home page. Let's face it. Extreme minimalism is their coin of the realm...and of course it is a trap. It forces you to make the first move, to declare your intentions, to start the search - and there they have you. They track you like a great cat; a great white on Shark week, a relentless data gatherer.
The other side of the coin is a target rich front page like Yahoo...full of fluff and stuff. The philosophy here is give you a choices enough that you click instead of search...ahhh that looks interesting...
I finally took the plunge and scrolled down the entire front page....past the horoscope, the nice piece on Taylor Swift's favorite bikini and why, the miracle food for aging skin, some tidbit about why Obama is a Muslim after all...you get the drill.
