I fell asleep last night with the TV on. Because I'm in advertising I tend to dream commercials - perhaps because the volume is up on them - I'm not sure. The middle of the night furniture sales guy woke me up finally talking about a bedroom suit (not suite but that's what was on the screen). I guess I wear a 3 piece suite to work. ohmy.
Anyway, a "suite" (pronounced "sweet") in music is simply a collection - like furniture - and often around some sort of unifying feature, like a "suite from the opera" or "French Suite" (I guess about France). I've go a couple favorite suites as I grew up in bands before orchestras and these are staples of band literature. Nice listening too.
