Watching our political circus...well this music is pleasing, clever, and friendly. SUCH A WELCOME DIVERSION.
In 1940, Kabalevsky chose ten short numbers from the incidental music to a children's play I think called the Comedians and the Inventor, and arranged them into a concert suite. The movements are:
- Prologue: Allegro vivace
- Comedians' Galop: Presto
- March: Moderato
- Waltz: Moderato
- Pantomime: Sostenuto e pesante
- Intermezzo: Allegro scherzando
- Little Lyrical Scene: Andantino semplice
- Gavotte: Allegretto
- Scherzo: Presto assai e molto leggiero
- Epilogue: Allegro molto e con brio.
Like the political discourse, you've heard this music your whole life only with music it doesn't hurt you.
