Ahh Spike.
30+ years ago or so my Russian friends wanted a sample of "Spike", AKA a herbicide extrordinaire....and I mean, really something. A couple of teaspoons in water, a home garden sprayer and there would be a plant left on the block.
Just to put this in perspective, we are talking about 18 years before 9-11 and that I was able to take it on board, stow it in the overhead compartment and fly New York to Stockholm, change planes and on to Moscow with the stuff without batting an eye...
This stuff was shipped to me from some place in Indiana in 4 to a box, 5lb. plastic containers. Its uses were and still are described as:
- Works from the roots up to control brush
- Premium long-lasting control of the toughest brush species
- Controls big sage, shinnery and other oaks, tarbush and creosote bush
- Ideal for sagebrush thinning and brush sculpting programs
- Enhances grazing and wildlife habitat
- Use on rangeland, pastures, clearings for wildlife and other noncropland areas
- Apply any time the soil is not frozen or saturated with moisture
