A red herring is something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important issue. It may be either a logical fallacy or a literary device that leads readers or audiences towards a false conclusion. |
When Le Donald announced his "round 'em up" immigration initiatives, he repeatedly stated that he was going to get the "bad guys" outta here. The murderers, drug dealers, rapists, gang members etc. were going to be a priority target. ICE was gonna go root them out and send them packing. He was going to make things "safe" again by taking the bad guys away.
So Donald, tell me how it works. If my local illegal immigrant is a murderer, WHAT IS HE DOING OUT ON THE STREETS SO AS TO THREATEN LAW ABIDING CITIZENS??????? If they are criminals, aren't they locked up??????
Trump makes it sound like there are thousands if not millions of these folks just roaming around and the gullible "trumpees and trumpettes" can't go out at night for fear of "at large" gangs of illegal immigrant murderers, all convicted by the way, scaring the pants off everyone.
I know some smart people who still fall for this red herring. It mystifies me as to why unless they aren't as smart as I feared.
