This has been on my bucket list forever and, to be honest, it probably won't get seen in person. But I can dream.
The Canyon became a national monument 106 years ago today. It probably hasn't changed a whit in that century plus; or not so that anyone would notice and won't in the next 100 unless we muck it up.
Was thinking about it this morning. Just about everyone I know who has seen it up close says no picture does it justice. Pictures only prepare the mind for the unimaginable - I think anyways. How could you describe it in words? If I told you about it you wouldn't believe me.
Roosevelt did a very good thing with our national parks and monuments although calling it a monument just doesn't seem to do it justice.
