Weather and Climate

Newt the paleontologist weighs in on the happy life of the dinasaur
As one storm after another rolls across the country, and it being winter, these are cold storms, the "debate" has renewed about global warming.  "How can it be global warming when it is so darn cold", cry a few.

I'm hesitant to bring this up because I don't want some folks to feel bad but there is a difference between weather and climate.  The weather is sunny or hot or cold or windy.  The climate is the big picture, not what you can see when you look at your little section of the sky.

Newt Gingrich, the rascal that even gives Georgia a bad name, had some interesting observations on climate change:

“The age of the dinosaurs was dramatically warmer than this is right now and it didn’t cook the planet,” Gingrich said. “In fact, life was fine.”

Gingrich even suggested people prefer a warmer climate because many visit the Caribbean in winter.

“The number of people leaving Minnesota this evening to get to the Caribbean versus the number of people leaving the Caribbean to try to get to Minnesota would argue that slightly warmer wouldn’t be a crisis,” Gingrich said.

Noted.
