Music you might know from somewhere

Opening Fanfare from the Sinfonetta by Leoš Janáček.
We can't know everything about everything - just as well really.  Sometime during life's journey you've run into this music by the Czech composer Leoš Janáček.  He is an interesting character at the very least. When we think of Czech music - well I'm not sure what we think of but the history and contribution is rich and has gone on for centuries.

The Sinfornetta dates from the mid-20s.  Give a listen if you can spare the time.  You've heard the music before - now you know what it is

  • I. Allegretto — Allegro maestoso (Fanfare)
  • II. Andante — Allegretto (The Castle, Brno)
  • III. Moderato (The Queen's Monastery, Brno)
  • IV. Allegretto (The Street Leading to the Castle)
  • V. Andante con moto (The Town Hall, Brno)
