Obamacare is so vastly misunderstood and the subject of so much purposeful disinformation that very few actually understand it at all. That the Heritage Foundation once suggested it and the House actually proposed it some years back - not to mention that the last presidential candidate implemented it to great success in his home state while governor, seems to be discarded information.
I heard the "death panel" argument just last night - government death panels. I faintly remember Gov. Brewer refusing to consider a change in her state's medicaid provisions for transplants thus dooming 9 people, waiting for the go ahead, to just wither and die. Ahh a death panel at the state level? Or how about when an insurance company refuses to cover a procedure - perhaps the last resort - a long shot but certain death without it. A death panel? Give me a break. You would rather have an insurance actuary or an elected official killing you rather than competent medical minds deciding COSTS not treatment - which under Obamacare goes to the doctor not to the commercial or political interests.
The real issue is that the GOP wants to meddle in health care. They hate big government but want to play doctor instead.
A short while back, Donald Trump's daughter got the VIP suite at Southampton Hospital and insurance paid and at the very same time, a poor kid with no insurance was in the emergency room for 4 days before they could get a doctor to actually treat him.
It is this type of crap that Obamacare addresses. It isn't perfect but for Congress to just want to chuck it by defunding it without some solution and to risk the credit of the country as a trump card...well its a fine kettle of fish I'll tell you.
