Snowden

It now seems that a majority of citizens are appalled at the behavior of the NSA and the domestic intrusion into phone/email records. Well la-de-dah. You are a little late to the party.  This stuff started nearly a dozen years ago when we let Congress get away with the Patriot Act and then let it be re-authorized a few years back.  If you were alive in the 50s and remember McCarthy and his witch-hunts or fast forward to Nixon and his enemies list, you can get the idea.  The idea being that whenever someone in power gets a burr under their saddle, they will justify anything by hook or crook and we are left with the consequences. We all have a reason to get ugly over all this but the focus of our ugliness should be the Patriot Act generally and our Congressmen in particular who have let this abomination spin like Topsy out of control.

Snowden is in and out of the news. He deserves very little air or print. He is a traitor to the United States and my hope is that every day, he wakes thinking that this day will be his last outside prison.

What is galling right now is that the far, lunatic right wing is trying to hang this jerk and the NSA around the President's neck. Some call (Levine, Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage) Snowden a hero. That is crazy. But then again, they are crazy.

The root of the problem here is the Patriot Act. That is the over-reach.  Given enough rope, nearly every agency will hang itself and Congress extended the NSA coils ofr rope and tied the knot in the form of a gift bow that nearly everyone in the room jumped to unwrap.

This entire episode is distorted politically. We are not well served by any of this.
