Dear Paul. We can feed 2 families of 4 for a month for what you pay to your health club (OHHHH that's the congressional health club...I forgot...that's free)
I'm one of those "things are never as simple as they seem" type of person. Stuff like apples falling from trees (Newton remember) seem simple but the science that backs up the observation is sublimely intricate and difficult.
I watched a few minutes of the wannabe-wunderkin Paul Ryan on TV this morning. He was politely give some softball questions of the waddayathink variety until one pundit observed he was lowering food stamp funding by 2%. "Well we have to attack the real issues of the economy and jobs, not 'how much' we give the poor. After all this (food stamps) isn't a right".
I wanted to shout at the TV and did. "Hey Paul...while congress does nothing but pass 35 abortion bills, what have you been doing for these years that fixes anything"? and "Hey Paul, if you haven't noticed, grocery prices are insane and NOT counted in the inflation index". and "Hey Paul, a mother and child get about $9.00 a day in assistance. Milk is $4.00+ a gallon. You get your dumb ass to the supermarket and feed your face and one kid for that and report back".
Mr. Ryan's explanation is that if these frills are cut back it will force people to find jobs blah blah blah. Let's eliminate some day care programs (oh you already did that), and as many other social programs as we can, fight the minimum wage as hard as we can, fight health care as hard as we can (if people can't afford food they can't also afford to get sick) and push those deadbeat kids into action.
Is a little starvation good for the soul Congressman?
