Sicilienne

"Pelléas and Mélisande" was a play by Maeterlinck written in 1992.  Incidental (meaning here and there - scene changes, between acts, mood music etc.) music was written by Faure in about 1898 for a London performance of the play.  Enough history.
A sicilienne is a dance. The word comes from "sicilana" or from Sicily and used used to mean a country dance in 6/8 time.  I was tempted into trying to link this into the "Sicilian Defense" in chess but could make the stretch - I being either too dumb to see the link or there isn't any, except that the relationship between the two pawns looks like a M/F circling each other for advantage...hmmm

Pretty doubtful.  Let's just leave it at being a very nice peace of music and something we can imagine best - gliding along in a fresh meadow, sun on our back....ah the pipes of Pan.
