Behold....

Isaiah 40:9    O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

The funerals have started in Connecticut.  Christians and Jews are in the holidays.  The two don't seem to mix very well.

We watched the President last night speaking to the town and the nation about this.  While listening, we thought of a great chorus from the Messiah oratorio by Handel, "Oh thou that tellest great tidings to Zion".  It is found in the Christmas section of the work (the Hallelujah Chorus is from the Easter Part and mis-performed at Christmas but that's another story) in actually the Advent text sequences.  "Climb up on the mountain and shout to all that God is on the move here" is another way to put it.

Mr. Obama did that last night.  Zion awaits. We all await and we anticipate the great event.
