Distraction Nonsense

When my daughter was about 12 or 13, there was a Brian Adams concert in a town nearby.  I may have his name wrong but the conversations that surrounded the event - well every parent knows how those go. One of my favorite "change the subjects" was to goad her a bit about a science project that was coming due.  She accused me of distracting her from her concert argument. I think that she meant "misdirecting" her. I just called it avoidance. In any event, those were her words and I was proud of her for using the term "distraction" and not being swayed by anything I threw up to change the subject.  She went of course.

Willard Romney is also employing the "distraction" theme with about the same maturity level as my pre-teen daughter did. In fact she had it right; Willard is off base.  Willard uses the term distraction because he is being distracted from what he wants to talk about and Mr. Obama seems to be playing tennis with all the balls. Literally.

When Willard ran Bane/Bain Capital we need to be clear on one central fact.  He wasn't using his money. He put together a fund and used that. He was a fund manager. The money he has is the money he took out of the fund in fees. Willard made a quarter of a billion dollars using other people's money. NOT his money.

Mr. John McCain considered Willard for VP, Willard trotted out 8 years of tax returns.  McCain's staff then chose Sarah Palin over Willard.  Palin over Willard. 1 group sees Willard's underwear and they chose someone else. Palin over Willard. Palin over Willard. Got it? Palin over Willard.  Where is Russia?

When Bane/Bain would make an investment or consider it, they did what is known as due diligence.  That means they would take apart a potential investment and, as the saying goes, explore every orifice. I've been through due diligence with Venture Capitalists (VCs) and they ask for everything and if you refuse to turn something over they walk away. If a VC asks for it, you better have it, including certified financials that account for every dime spent ever.

That Willard wants us to invest in him, cast our vote for him, and he is, straight up, refusing to undergo a due diligence with the American people isn't a distraction - it may be for him but not for me. Since he refuses and even trots out his wife to refuse, well then, I want to know EVERYTHING.

Shoe is on the other foot Willard. How does it feel?
