Ahhhh Libya and the Arab League. The League wants the UN to impose a "no fly" zone over Libya...this is better know as "hey you western guys who want out oil, please take action against one of Arab brethern - do our bidding - and we won't get mad".Monica "Crawlie", about a month ago, was lauding the Bush administration and vindicating it over Iraq because it "had started democracy in the middle east". "ya like apples Monica? well I got her number. ... how do you like them apples". If all this are the seeds of democracy rampant in the Arab world, then I've got a bridge to sell you.
We are where we were. No fly zones don't work in nations with wealth and Libya is wealthy. Their centers of power - that goofy running that country and the military are well fed, well paid and loyal. it is pretty clear that killing their own citizens isn't a big deal to anyone so as "fearless leader" opens another tin of caviar as his people are shot down like rabid dogs a no fly zone only means that his air force conserves fuel.
Now we have a huge wave of sentiment that we should 'get boots on the ground" and impose this no fly zone as a first step to let fearless leader know we are serious. This is a rock and a hard place thinking. The far better answer is to just shoot the bastard and be done with it. That it hasn't happened yet is a monument to fearless leader's security and the absolute fact that the alternative waiting in the wings might be even more of a disaster.
Go outside - to your local street - and go to a door of a family you know. Ask them if they would potentially be willing to give up a son or daughter to support the insurrection in Libya...sacrafice them...let them die...for this fight. You pick. You live with it.
