Visual Expressions

I feature the younger of the two major Venezuelan Youth Orchestras (these kids are ALL high school age and this is the second best of 250+ orchestras in that little country) often because to watch them play and to hear their performances is so far above their ages - well it is just a wonderment - certainly the greatest orchestra of its age to ever be seen or heard on this earth.  The point though in watching/hearing this performance of a movement from Prokofiev's 5th Symphony is purely the visual aspect.  We see it from the audience but only to a degree. This is what it really is like to be in an orchestra, the intense, quiet physical motion that goes on...bows flying, bodies weaving in time, nods, emphasis added..it is an amazing sequence and I urge you to think about this passion so often not expressed in what we do.
