Reflections in the water

20 years ago the Peconic Bay, separating the north and south fork of eastern Long Island, froze solid. It hasn't happened since as salt water with big tides rarely freezes.  On New Year's Eve that year we took the ferry route home and got stuck in the ice. It was memorable.

On days before an approaching storm the water turns glassy calm...sometimes with hardly a ripple. This morning's walk with the dog along the beach was such a morning.
