Monday morning?

The Mommas and the Pappas seem almost like caricatures - as we all probably do if you looked at us geeking around 45 years ago or so.  I've been kinda brain dead in the popular music genre since the Beatles, the amazing folk singers back then and Momma Case and Company.  I'm thinking Lembke Hall at Valparaiso, Saturday night, Midnight Special on WFMT out of Chicago. Wood floors, doughnut runs at 1am to Fasel's Bakery to catch the first one's out and fresh from the powdered sugar, endless bull sessions about angels on the head of a pin...

My dorm room was the room Lowell Thomas, the famous radio broadcaster used his second year there. His initials were in the pine on the wall around the door. We talked about that. He probably had a crystal set and caught WLS - a clear channel from Chicago - booming across lower lake Michigan, over the dunes and to a dorm with young  men and women trying to figure out which way was up on a Saturday night and thinking about what it would be the sermon topic in Chapel the next day or what evils would befall us in English Lit on Monday.
