Just so we are up to speed here, Tunisia is in completely upheaval, Egypt is about to explode, Israel is fairly worried as the these moderate (in comparison) nations were least likely to attack them and now they are essentially big question marks.
We are still in Iraq. Iran hates everyone and wants to drop nuclear weapons on Israel, the United States - well just about anyone, Afghanistan is the black hole of all times, Pakistan can't be figured out or trusted...let's see, have I missed anything? Oh yeah, you can drop down south of Egypt to a bunch of nations that routinely kill off a million of so of their populations every so often and then Somalia with its pirates...and I guess I could go on and on (and on and on).
With a great part of the world up in flames, about to go up in flames and already burned to the ground, one would think it important that we, as a nation, have some semblance of understanding of geography. Only 20% of Americans can find the US on a globe. Aren't we just a little bit curious, with the news showing events in Egypt non-stop, as to where it is?
I'm now of the opinion that a basic test for having a say in something - foreign aid for example, you have to identify the country you are talking about on a map before you are allowed to opine about anything. Just a thought.
