Immigration

Have you ever been at a cocktail party and in the midst of chit-chat you see someone's eyes glaze over.  It can be boredom with what you are saying or, it can be that the conversation went into an area where they know nothing, have nothing to say, and are, unfortunately clueless.  I haven't had the opportunity to write about this in 5 months...but I can't pass it up today.

Our US Senate has  that look a lot.  Just bring up, or try and bring up illegal immigration and you can see it.  Well perhaps not.

Yesterday the "cocktail talk" of the hour was the Dream Act.  In a fairly straight forward bill, the idea was put forth that we have 10 million people here without papers. They produce about 300,000 children a year who are automatically citizens under the 14rh amendment.  It is without debate that some come here to give birth to take advantage of the automatic citizenship afforded to a person of natural birth.   The Dream Act sought to start to address a solution and offer up at least a marginal avenue to address this problem.  It is, by the way, a problem that blossomed during the last 20 years and in particular, during George Bush the Child's 8 years of inaction.

And how did the Senate deal with this bill during cocktail time yesterday?  They walked away from it.  The blocked DEBATE on it. Let's just not talk about it.  It was a rude affront to their hosts - the American People - as we looked to them for a solution or at least a conversation and their response was to ignore us.
