82 years ago today, Ravel premiered this "ballet" at the Paris Opera. He called it his finest masterpiece that contained no music. People love it. I love to hear it and have since my sister brought home a record of it from college. I still have the record.
There is so much to watch when an orchestra plays it. The snare drummer, the way the hands move in the violin section when they pluck the strings, the concentration.....my oh my. Happy birthday.
