There is an article (applying the term loosely) in the Wall Street Journal this morning about buying the senior vote with the $250 check being sent out - as there is no cost of living increase in Social Security this year (nor last year). Just do the math.
A low end SS recipient gets $500 a month - a high end $2,000. That is $6-24,000 a year of which $250 represents a "windfall' of 4% or 1% depending on where you sit. The major expenses we all face are heating or cooling our homes and putting food on the table. These costs AREN'T factored in because they are too volatile.
When was the last set of screaming headlines that said "Food prices plummet to record lows" or "Energy costs back at 1990 levels!!". You didn't.
This "let them eat cake" crap from the Fox News folks at the Journal really needs to stop or your reputation will rival that of Glenn Beck for truth and honesty.
