Huge storms hit the city at dinner time last night. By chance I was listening to Internet radio and watching local weather and this piece by Aaron Copland was played, by chance of course. The line of storms was thin - it took less than 1/2 an hour to move through any one place - but scared everyone nearly to death. Afterward was the calm.
We think of this piece as being "New York City" because Copland was an artist here when he wrote this. Sadly the scenes are of LA and the orchestra is the Cincinnati Pops but the wonderful trumpet player is Phil Collins from the NY Philarhomic so there is some attempt at being local.
