Some election stuff and voting

90 Years ago this week, the 19th amendment to our Constitution passed the last state to give it 3/4ths of all states and was adopted.  That amendment gave the vote to women. Can you imagine it not being so? My father, departed for a decade now, was born when only white males could vote. Free black men could as well but only here and there and as a quote goes in today's NYTimes:

Female voters would also pose practical difficulties, described bluntly by a Mississippi man: “We are not afraid to maul a black man over the head if he dares to vote, but we can’t treat women, even black women, that way. No, we’ll allow no woman suffrage.”

Anyway there was a ho-hum set of primaries yesterday. The Tea Party didn't do well. Some discontent here and there and a female, Senator Lisa Mirkowski of Alaska was in a very tight race for re-election.  ........  interesting turn of events.
