It is so far away. It seems a shame something that is so beautiful has to be in a place where not one of us alive on earth, right now, not the newest of newborns, will ever travel there and see it even this close. Learn something about this far away neighbor here....
Gustav Holst wrote "the Planets" - little depictions of each of the know (not Pluto which wasn't discovered yet) and Neptune was the last movement.
Without having seen it and with it being just a dot in the sky to even the best telescopes, Holst caught it just right.
