There was a very funny movie by that name a few years back...Like 60-70 years back. This egg isn't so funny. I have clippings from papers that I use for package stuffing and breakables wrapping that show eggs at $.39 a dozen just 25 years ago. We were told that they were bad for you so we didn't eat many. Now we find that they are good for you and they cost $2.39 a dozen or about $.20/egg. About half a billion of them or $100 million bucks retail of eggs were recalled with more on the way. I'm sure you read about it but the story is here in summary.
My sister raised hens about 30 years ago. She and her husband were gentleman farmers with an apple orchard, hens and a garden that fed half of suburban Cincinnati. When the hen population grew to 50 (they breed and produce like rabbits if you aren't careful) and the egg output was a few dozen a day and the garden went over to feed corn that they could crack for chicken feed during the winter - well multiply that by about a million and you have one farm. Just sayin.
My sister couldn't and wouldn't hurt a fly. She ran from snakes. She chained herself and her kids to trees that were in danger of being cut down. She hated to pull weeds and fished with no hook or bait. She could, however, kill a chicken.
