Frank Rich makes conservative's blood boil. He should give them hope.

He notes today, this 234th 4th of July, that as a nation we are only part way there...that there are a lot of issues and resentments, some that spill over to bigotry and many born of just plain ingnorance.  It is sad on one hand but necessary on the other.

What makes this nation go is that, as my dad used to say, you got a glass, you've got ice, gin and vermouth..the olives await...but you have to decide if you want to shake it or stir it or just let it mix itself.  We have the ingredients right and sometimes we need to let things alone to work out, other times a gentle swirl will do it. On occasion, a good hard shake sets the finished drink in motion.

7am on Sunday is no time to drink but it is time to shake things up a bit here and there.  That shaking is what made this country grow. Let's not forget that.
