We have just got to be nuts. Maureen Dowd talks about it this morning. I was talking to my daughter about it yesterday as she has a 2 year old who has a cellphone toy that she calls "hello" because you pick it up and say hello, like mommy.
We were yard sailing yesterday for a few minutes and went to this one that was in a ritzy neighborhood and what did we find? A couple of old guys, obviously having made their money in the "construction wiring and electric business" and for sale was an IBM Selectric II typewriter circa 1972. I typed my dissertation drafts on one of those babies. It was a game changer. They also had early fax machines for sale - again 1985-86 - and they probably still worked if you could get rolls of paper to load in them. For you kids reading this, my first fax machine cost $1,800 and it positively ruined the lives of businesses everywhere. No more waiting for mail, no more delay in response...it was truly a game changer. Now cell phones.
Find a public phone booth near you. I dare you. You might find a public phone near the Micky D's restroom area but that is owned and collected by someone who also puts vending machines in service stations. What you will find are cellphones...well you will now find droids....here is an industry description:
......brings along improvements like: a cleaner standard interface (though not as nice as HTC’s Sense, it still offers nice features like buttons on the dock for going to the phone or to the web and an iPad-like “pinch to open” to quickly peek at photos), the ability to turn your phone into a mobile hotspot (ala EVO), faster speed particularly in apps and games as well as a much faster web browser, and built-in support for Adobe Flash 10.1– meaning you finally can get access to THE FULL WEB including sites like Hulu which has their videos only in Flash
IT IS A PHONE STUPID! A CELL PHONE IS A PHONE. IT IS MEANT TO CALL PEOPLE AND THEN HAVE PEOPLE CALL YOU WHEN YOU CAN'T FIND A PAY PHONE OR YOU ARE NOT AT HOME. JESUS!
