The Youth's Magic Horn

Whenever I hear about Rush or Glenn Beck or other hapless folks being the target of a "War on.." like O'Reilly's war on Christmas type of thing I think of Gustav Mahler, a Jew who at one point led the Vienna Opera and was a caricature of Judiasm in a country and era when the Jews were real targets from the get go.

This is a solo for trumpet (actually post horn..the type of horn that actually all over Europe was played when the postman (mail) arrived) and it comes from one of his symphonies and you can just think of it as a few minutes of beautiful music or you can think of it as a foreshadowing of times to come and the plaintiff dispair of bigotry and racism carried past the extremes of humankind.

Next time Glenn Beck whines about being targeted and Rush Limbaugh calls out the "they are out to get me" shock troops, someone needs to hurl back at them and put their "ilk" in pre-Nazi Europe and tell them to deal with it.  I'm really sick to death of these pansies.
