I give you Jose Antonio Abreu

I've ranted and raved about the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuala on this blog for months now. Jose Antonio Abreu started something and this is the talent of the guy...he wrote this. LISTEN...it is incredibly hard and he wrote it.

I don't like the guy who runs Venezuala at all. He seems to be a clown and a menace rolled into one. I don't get why he is still in power but he is and we have to deal with him in some fashion. But we don't have to like or admire him and I/probably-we don't.

Abreu started the national movement in Venezuala before the clown took office for a national youth orchestra system that now has a fairly large percentage of the 21 and under crowd in that country taking free lessons and playing in orchestras. This is the real deal. He was the real deal. He has saved from the streets and no future perhaps 2 million kids in the last three decades and given them music and skills and an appreciation of something other than endless poverty and governmental dictates.

That his work is showcased by the Chicago Symphony and that his Youth Orchestra System is the finest on the face of planet Earth....well damn you nice going!!!  How is it that people with talents that change a million people go without notice? How is that?
