Appreciation

Patrick O'Brien is an author who not only can tell a story but one who can show you the stitches in the cloth.  If you can get a hold of his series of books, from which Master and Commander is one (and the most readible of the lot) then endulge yourself.

You will have to concentrate and think...which is not a bad object of a book...and when the movie shows up in reruns as it has on several channels of late, you will note that it really does follow the book in the endless visual detail that must have been.
