Not the Poussin painting but les Deluge nonetheless

This is headed our way this morning. I can see the lightning on the horizon. No thunder yet.  It isn't the Poussin masterwork, or at least we hope not, but the ground still walks like a wet sponge and my pets are looking that look of rain day and litter boxes.

Pretty good storm music over the years...from the Beethoven movement from the 6th symphony (for all you Walt Disney fans) to this rather interesting fellow conducting the "cloudburst" from the Grand Canyon Suite.  There was a rather interesting concept of "storm and stress" that laced through 19th century European music but it dealt with emotions rather than just thunder and lightning.  Think soap opera. The stuff of these two excepts rest in depiction of nature's storms and stresses and not personal angst.

Anyway, after Beethoven's storm is over, he gives us a peasant dance - you know, the farmers come out after the rain and square dance in the fields...that type of thing...but it is very nice and relaxing and if you have to get on the Long Island Railroad and tromp around NYC in the rain, well mail it in....play hookie...go back to bed and wait for Les Deluge to subside..dance a bit. Chill.
