Little reminder of then and now

That clarinetist is Stanly Drucker about 48 years ago. He played clarinet in the NY Philharmonic for half a century. I stumbled on this collection of Bernstein "Young People's Concerts" on You Tube.

If you can spare the time, you might want to invite your kids to watch this sequence..not only for understanding a terrific performance of a wonderous piece of music, but in seeing what was at the time an "all male" orchestra (no females) and kids sitting in the audience in suits and girls with dresses and Annette Funnicello hairdos.

I had to go to Garby Leon's house (he became a piano teacher at UCLA and a development guy at Paramount) to watch this stuff as my dad would have none of it. Strange what you think about early in the morning.
