This Hyatt ad, in Master's Green, rolled down when I went to the front page of the Times this morning. It got in the way. I went to the Times to read news not fight my way through an ad.
About ten years back I was part of a team that invented internet ads that were timed...and followed you page to page so you could see a 30 second advertisement for 30 full seconds..the page changed around the ad. The NYTimes took up the idea because the fellow who ran the digital division at that time understood the cardinal rule of advertising - DON'T GET IN THE WAY. If someone is trying to do something, don't stick an advertisement in the way and keep them from doing it. The new guy didn't get the memo.
