Sunday on Long Island (its Monday morning actually now)

I half cleaned my home/office yesterday...about 5 more half days to go. Some surprises in the piles, a lot of nostalgia and found my dad's "lost now found" high school graduation book...class of 1928, Ypsilanti Normal HS.  Also was listening to music on the net and thinking about a lunch I had with my wife and her nephew and his splendid wife.  They are from Greenport which is way at the end of Long Island in wine country and they had just been curling (like in the olympics)..with the big stone.  We spent hours in a little Bistro just enjoying. They are terrific company.

Greenport put in a winter only ice rink a while back (next pic).  It is down near the waterfront and due to all the interest in the curling at the Olympics it appears someone decided (rightfully) to try the darn sport out or at least let everyone curl a few stones, put on the shoes and man the brooms. I hope it catches on. I've blogged in the past about growing up in northern Michigan and getting Canadian radio late at night with live broadcasts of the local curling matches and wondering what in the world that was all about. Try and imagine curling if you couldn't see it and someone was telling you about it. Anyway, here is the ice rink and some peaceful music to listen to while (just let the youtube music run, there are a few that follow that are also 'at rest') you contemplate a simple and elegant way to have fun.
