Brown v. Board of Ed half a century later

Ruination was the threat if the Kansas City schools were forced to abandon separate but equal.  It didn't pan out that way and to the contrary the school system thrived. It even survived the onslaught of creation science zealots and urban flight. Now it is on death's door and has a crisis where there is no intellectual path to save it.  Roughly half the schools are going to close.

This doesn't have anything to do with curriculum, teacher quality, integration or the man on the moon. This has to do with money or lack thereof. They don't have it to spend so they have to close...simple as that. There will be a cry that it is waste fraud and abuse but that is the simplistic red herring.  The economy is in the toilet and the schools are often the litmus paper that turns color fastest.
