Tom Friedman is trying my considerable patience.

He wrote about the breakdown in the anti-terror chain and how it won't be possible to stop everyone unless other nations do their part and we all row this canoe together.  He also wrote "We are turning ourselves inside out over how our system broke down — and surely it did — in allowing Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the would-be suicide bomber, to board that airliner."

Let's look at that sentence, in particular, "inside out over how our system broke down" and from that, focus in on "our system".  That's right folks. OUR SYSTEM.

Here is how the chain of thinking works in some minds. Obama isn't focused on terror. Obama doesn't recognize the threat. Some brat punk kid born of wealth and privilege sees into the future and, mind you, before Obama is even elected, figures out that "hey we got a softy" who won't pay attention to "out system", so he decides to prove the point by either burning his penis off or blowing up a plane.

Let's get a few things straight.  He bought a one way ticket with cash where?  He boarded a plane with no luggage where?  He made a stop and changed planes where?  He was bound for Detroit in the dead of winter without a coat and no one "where" noticed?

And who's fault is it? Why ours of course because OUR SYSTEM didn't work.  Someone shoot me.
