Ohhhh this is so unfair....I have to be nice...praising even

That isn't my capital one card but it looks like it.  Yesterday some thieves had a shopping spree on it in Brooklyn while it sat in my wallet.

I got a call about 9:45 from my bank and when I saw the caller ID I though, well that's it, I've done something wrong.  But no. It was their card security division telling me that my card or a duplicate thereof, was used at a Target store in Brooklyn 4 minutes ago and they suspected fraud...am I now in Brooklyn? and did I just spend $500?  No to both.  Aha.

I was instructed to not use the card and if I could drop in to my local branch they will straighten things out. Couldn't have been nicer or more professional.  Hrmph.  So I go to my branch, tell them about the call, they shred my old card, reimburse my account, find that some other merchant had been hit in Brooklyn, called that merchant who actually had the crooks in the store at that very moment, called the police, gave me back this new purchase deduction, issued me a new card and promised to call me this morning to let me know if there was anything else going on.

I generally don't like Capital One because they bought out my old bank and tossed my friends of 20 years out of work.  I abhore their "what's in your wallet" advertising.  I think it is the silliest thing on TV.  I actually turned down a brand VP job with them a few years back because of how bad I thought it was and I wouldn't lend my name to it.  Well, now I have to eat my words and thoughts.  This group behaved perfectly, professionally, compassionately and promptly. NO FAIR.
