Eugene Robinson finally calls it for what it is. Lying.

Eugene Robinson is fairly slow to anger and partly because he has experience observing the Washington sillies and their sage pronouncements about things they know little about.  It does appear, however, that Mr. Cheney has finally pushed him over the edge.

Writing yesterday in the WaPo, Eugene finally calls Mr. Cheney what he really is; a liar.

An old tactic, used well by the Rove predecessors Lee Atwater, is to accuse your opponent of precisely what you are doing yourself.  If you are robbing banks, then call your opponent a bank robber. If you call your opponent soft on terror or not taking terror seriously then invent and mis-use a color coding terror system that you can switch on and off at whim and political advantage time.  You can now scream that closing Gitmo will turn terrorists loose to do us harm...after releasing 2 such terrorists who actually did work with the Christmas day bomber.

It is that kind of lying that drives the public crazy because, and simply because, they don't know what or who is telling the truth and that stinks.  Its Palin and the death panels.   It is Inhofe and bad science.

Is there no end to this? Do we have to listen to this grease sweating liar? Should anyone care?
