The Abandoned

Canteloube was a French composer and historian, born in the same year as my grandmother by the way (middle 1870s) and his great contribution to our civilization was to "orchestrate" Chants (songs) d'Auvergne (from Auvergne - a region in France).  "La delaïssádo" (the Abandoned) is here.  I'm not sure there is a more introspective work in all of 20th century music. There are few recordings and the one here shows (without explanation) scenes from Portugal (?) but there you have it.
