The Democrats are all a-twitter about vast numbers of emails suddenly being made public on Wikileaks. It appears that the email dump to Wiki has Russian "fingerprints" on it and there is a fairly certain chance that it was Boris and Natasha at work here.
If you have dealt with the Russian government at any length, there are tell-tales in what they say or do not say. Here is the Russian response:
“I completely rule out a possibility that the [Russian] government or the government bodies have been involved in this,” Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, told the Reuters news agency in Moscow.
In case you missed it, they just told you who did it and they don't want to be blamed so if you are a democrat with some discomfort, you won't or shouldn't go about blaming their government directly. They just told you that the group(s) who hacked in were contractors, not official. Our government would do the same if the NSA didn't have their fingers in everyone's pockets both here and abroad; it is just the way things are.
Where this is going to get murky in a hurry is if Le Donald had his itsy bitsy fingers in this pie. I'm of the opinion he does if for no other reason than he is a scoundrel and would do anything to win and not spend a dime doing it. His Nato stances of "perhaps" not defending countries who don't pay up is enough of a quid pro quo to satisfy Putin. Putin could, in return, just turn a blind eye to the hackers and pow biff zoom, deal is done.
If you think that the the Russian government couldn't find the hackers in an hour or less "if they wanted to", then I've got a bridge to sell you. This is a deal. Smells like it, tastes like it and sounds like it.
