If you head out on the North Road toward Orient and Orient Point, one crosses the "causeway" that connects the last 6 miles of the north fork of Long Island with the rest of it. This is the view. The pond is part of Peconic Bay..Long Island Sound is a few feet to the left.
You can't build there because it floods at storm tide; full up to the road.
Just as well. 60 years from now when my grand kids are my age, they will drive their grand kids over this road and it will look the same.
Hope so. Looking back on life, there are very few scenes that look the same now as they did when I was a kid.
