Dead Man Walking

Suspect #2, in the white hat, captured by cellphone camera
The NRA suggests that we all become "armed".  In a sense we all are now. The cellular camera, in this case, has become the best defense we have - not in preventing the act but in apprehending the culprit.

We note this morning that there was a pitched gun battle between the two suspects, brothers we are told, and law enforcement and after that volley, some 100 or so shots, the sum total was 1 suspect dead, one policeman wounded but not during the main shootout but those details are sketchy.  I admire law enforcement for having the daily courage to confront bad guys and get in a shootout if necessary. That is what they are trained to do, sadly. When you hear the tapes of the incident perhaps the realization that an average citizen, armed to the teeth, merely fills the air with lead shot and, compared to law enforcement - trained people - making the citizenry into an armed camp may not be the answer.

In the end, cameras in private hands were key to solving the case.

This fella, this gangster, now needs to be and will be caught and he is a dead man walking.
