Krugman and the Bloodbath

Paul Krugman is fairly well disliked by the right wing in this country.  His credentials are mocked, his views are poo-poo'd and even his physical appearance is the subject of jest.  Simply, FauxNoiseCorp types can't get enough of him.

He warns this morning of trouble on the horizon as he does so often (as there is generally 'trouble ahead').  This one comes due in a few months when the debt limit must be extended or the nation slips into default.  There were a certain number of real blockheads elected this time out who have already put down the 'my way or the highway' ultimatum and that, coupled with the deficit reduction commission/Alan Simpson, are set for a regular donnybrook.

Here is what will happen.  The republicans will try for tax cuts first and then take on NPR to save us a few million and call it a day on reducing spending. ... oh they might also decide that starving the homeless poor will improve their lives so that's not off the table (are there no prisons? workhouses?").

Congress never gets this area of responsibility in order.  This is finish your dinner before desert time if I ever saw it.  I expressed an idea the other day that I mailed to Krugman. Perhaps today's column is the first of a two part...problem/solution piece.  One can hope.
