Thinking about race - day 2

I wrote this yesterday.  At first glance this morning I was tempted to discontinue due to some emails received (note to Irving, my mother was not like that at all) .

Then I thought that once you go down a path it generally should be "one way" so let's keep going.   Television isn't an "outbound only" black hole. It is reflective of what we want to see. Of course we might disagree individually but that is why there are 500 networks each watched by a handful...but a handful devoted to that subject.  Broadcast networks have largely lost audience because they go to the lowest common demoninator...dancing with the stars? what's up with that?

A long time ago, before cable, things were a great deal simplier and clearer. Television was a tool to teach and learn and not just entertain. It was a source of discussion. Mary Tyler Moore and woman's rights/place, Tom and Dicky Smothers, Rowan and Martin...and All in the Family...tops for 5 years running. With stuff like this:
